...If you want to have an other-worldly experience that make you feel like you're almost on another planet, exploring these massive balanced rocks are a must!

Not far from Page Arizona sits these amazing rock formations! They are located down Lees Ferry Road in Marble Canyon. Getting there is pretty easy. Once driving up the 89A, and over Navajo Bridge, you'll make a right on Lees Ferry Road. After making that turn, you'll almost immediately start seeing the large and unique rock formations. There are a few sections down this road where these balanced rocks can be seen, but the images I have posted above are exactly 2.1 miles from the turn from the bridge. The rock formations are right off the side of the road, so there's really no hiking, unless you want to explore the area for more hidden gems...which there are! But the feeling of standing under or besides these massive boulder size balanced rocks are insane! I've honestly never experienced anything else like it. Almost feels like you're on Mars...lol.

A little description and history: Thousands of years ago large rock pieces broke from the cliff edges above and fell to the bottom floor. Over time, the large boulder compressed the softer dirt directly beneath it, making it resistant to erosion. As time went on it also left a 6+ foot pedestal-like stand from the surrounding loose ground that eventually faded away. You can actually see this process taking place under many of the rocks in the marble canyon area. In some sections of the canyon, you'll also see some cliff dwellings, which are houses or shelters built into or around rocks/cliffs. It's super cool to check out! Also, if you have some extra time after exploring, drive to the end of Lees Ferry Road to the beach where the boat launch is. The beach is very nice, and it also has restrooms. On a nice day, it's definitely worth the effort!

As always, leave no trace and leave it better than you saw it! live it up!
