Description

A hike on Antarctica where it feels like you just opened the closet door to “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” and walked into a whole new world.
This is a hike to the peak of Danco Island which is a 130 meter peak - it’s more difficult when you have all the Antarctica gear on and the views are unbelievable.
Along this walk / hike you’ll stop occasionally to see the mountains, glaciers, icebergs, and any kayakers below. It’s pristine and magical. Danco Island is about 1 mile long. It was chartered in 1898 by Gerlache’s Belgian expedition, and named after Lieutenant Emilie Danco, a geologist on Belgica who died due to being trapped in the ice.
At the top you can sit and see the reflection of the mountains in the water. It is a sight you cannot get anywhere else in the world. The mountains are right there surrounding you, the air is so pure, and occasionally you hear wildlife or ice moving. The icebergs are right below you.
