Hike this convenient and short trail that offers great views of the island.
This hike is 1.4 mile out and back hike that leads to great island views and a fun beach to explore. This is one of the easiest hikes on Kodiak Island. Accessible in all seasons with a well groomed trail, minimal gear is needed, making it more of a nice walk that can be accomplished at all times in most weather that you are willing to go out in.
Parking is along the fence where the road dead ends. Enter through the fence gate. You have to pass through another fence shortly after. You will see a sign up in the trees off to the right stating the trail is .7 miles out to the cape.
The trail is mainly tree covered showing glimpses of the water and mountains off in the distance. Once you get out to the cape itself, the trail splits. Take that left and it will lead to wonderful views out over the water on the cape’s end. If you stay to the right you will head right to the beach which offers fun rocks and WWII leftovers that you can find during low tide. There is also a small trail that heads down to the beach from the cape, so you don’t have to worry about back tracking to go to the beach. Have fun exploring!
