A challenging steep hike with a rewarding scenic view at the top.

My sister and I with her dog did this great adventure after completing a Star Wars marathon and being pretty lazy on the couch. We wanted to get up and move our bodies, so we decided to check out this summit hike that ironically was named Lazy Mountain.

This is a great hike for those that want a challenge. While it might be called Lazy Mountain, it is not for the those who want just a leisure walk. The trailhead is well marked with a large sign marking the trail and immediately starts the uphill journey. The first two miles there are a lot of roots and after a rainfall can be very slick so be prepared. Once you breach the foliage and are high up on the mountain, you will think that you can see the summit in the distance but depending on how cloudy it is, it may be all a trick. Numerous times on this hike, my sister and I were encouraging each other saying the top was in sight, but it was a false summit and the true summit was covered in clouds. The summit is very rocky and marked by an American flag. The day I went the summit was immersed in a gray cloud but just under the summit was a breathtaking view of Palmer, AK.
