Hike to Upper Caney Creek Falls Reviews
The falls are GORGEOUS. Try to go when you suspect no one is out and about (not a Saturday), and you might get lucky like we did, where there was absolutely no one the entire day. We just sat and swam at the foot of the falls for hours. It was absolutely incredible, and a must if you’re looking for a date idea or just a place to feel secluded for a bit. DEFINITELY, go if it’s raining/drizzling. The hike itself is not that difficult, so it’s very possible while raining, and the falls are BEAUTIFUL when overflowing PS. A nearby resident’s german shepard accompanied us the entire hike. He is super friendly and will just hike with you and sit near you the whole day! Give him some pets and say hi to him for us!

Hey explorers. So this hike is amazing but the one this leads you to is not the actual trail head, it’s private property. There is another trail that you can park at without worrying about getting your car towed. The location is: 34.25378° N, 87.44538° W From there, there is a path but it’s not the best cut out wise so I just straight cut through the woods. Once you arrive at the first location, direct yourself towards: 34.24592° N, 87.43313° W and you will come right up on it. Just make sure you don’t black the gate 👍🏽

I happened upon this hike a few years ago and have been back several times in both winter and summer months, and it never disappoints. While the hike itself is uneventful for the most part - part of the trail is on private land and a good portion is an old logging road - the final descent into the canyon is beautiful with hemlocks all around, with the reward of the gorgeous Upper Falls. Feels otherworldly almost. Definitely recommend hiking down to the lower falls. Love this hike!

This was a great hike. The water by the waterfall was very clear & beautiful, and the water was flowing even in the winter. There is a lower waterfall if you follow the stream about 1 - 1.5 miles down that is also worth exploring!
