Bald Rock is a beautiful location to view both sunset and sunrise, a short stroll down the wheelchair accessible boardwalk yields an epic viewpoint.

Bald Rock is maybe the most easily accessible views I have ever experienced. This is not to lessen the beauty of the location, but to convey that this spot is quite fool-proof, and can be enjoyed by literally anyone. However, I do recommend this view at sunrise during the summer because of how crowded it gets. I first checked it out when I was taking two inexperienced friends camping (was the first time ever for one) and it was a nice addition to the trip.

If you are taking a longer trip in the park, such as backpacking on the Pinhoti Trail, Bald Rock could be a quick excursion on you way out of the park or a meeting place for your group at the start of the trip.

There are bathroom facilities at the trailhead and it is walking distance from the lodge where there is a good restaurant and another great viewing platform.

Not really an insider location, but definitely worth adding to your Cheaha SP trip.

Take in the View from Bald Rock in Cheaha State Park Reviews

One mile is a stretch...maybe a half-mile roundtrip at most. The boardwalk which leads you all the way to the overlook is extremely nice and well built. The view is slightly underwhelming but still worth a quick visit. I'd recommend visiting when the leaves are changing colors. You can also walk through the woods on a trail that veers off the main boardwalk.

Easy, short hike to a great lookout from Alabama's highest point. Check out the nearby museum as well for a view from an old observation tower.
