Cery well maintained trails with lots of wood bridges for crossing the various small creeks and runoff areas. Several sections are a bit uneven with tree roots and a some rocks, but its well cleared and easily visible. Excellent tree cover for hot days. Little incline/decline, making it perfect for all ages and fitness levels.

Blackwood Farm is a very well maintained area with plenty of nice hikes, a fishing lake, pavillions for family picnics, and historical buildings with information to learn about the farm. This loop os an easy loop right from the parking lot that runs through the forest and runs by the lake. Very well maintains and dog friendly!

Great multi-purpose trail for hiking and mountain biking. Brumley South is currently separated by the river since the bridge washed out. Limited trails are accessable from this parking lot, but that does lessen traffic on these trails substantially. Would recommend for everyone of any activity level to enjoy a short hike outdoors!

Well maintained in the fall as well. Perfect place to hike and spend time outdoors all year round! Mountain bike trails close off and on for weather conditions and for wet trails. The skills area is still in development.

Great place to take an early morning walk and enjoy nature. There are several loops that go through the forest with good shade cover for hikes at anytime during the day. Very little incline making it perfect for all ages and activity levels.

Great intermediate level trail. The trail starts down Parker road before branching into the first loop. At the backend of the first loop, there is a connector trail leading to the second loop. That connecting trail is as far as dogs are allowed.

Lovely loop around the baseball fields and palygroubd.

This path takes two different trail loops. The first is the Ridge Loop and is very well maintained with the exception of a short spot by the Little Fork River where it is slick and mucky after rainfall. The second loop is less well maintained. There are long stretches along the river that are even more slick than the Ridge Loop. Other than those sections, the trails are very well maintained, family friendly, and easy to traverse. The park as a whole has a lot to offer for everyone. Hiking trails, mountain biking traile, a large field, playground, paved trails, and picnic areas. There is something for everyone here!

The park is very well maintained by staff. This trail is more out and back with a loop along the river bank on the far side. The current route is showing a large loop, but it is a maintenance access on the left. They have it clearly marked and it is very easy to follow the trail. It isn’t very difficult and perfect for al ages! With both hiking and mountain biking trails, open fields, picnic areas, and a playground; there is something for everyone here.

The access road portion of the trail for hiking and mountain bikes is maintained very well and i highly recommend them. The foot path portion of the trail along the creek is not easy. There are multiple rock scramble areas, narrow trails righ on the bank of the river, and overgrown brush that covers sections of the trail. One section is a 3-4 foot drop off the large rock making it difficult to take dogs down. This would be a challenging loop for a fall/winter hike, but for the spring and summer, stick to the access roads.

This is a pretty frequent go to hike for most BYU-Idaho college students. It is a decent hike for what it is, a dormant volcanic butte out in the Snake River Valley Desert. It’s a fairly steep ascent, then a loop around the rim. It does get more difficult as the snow and ice comes in, so stick to the summer when its warmer. Be on the lookout for rattlesnakes when the weather is warm enough!

Good intermediate level hike for those who want a steeper incline (just at the beginning/end) and narrow, rocky trails. It runs alongside Hope Creek and has plenty of accessess for fishing or enjoying the water. I would not attempt the trail after heavy rainfall because it does cross a small creek just after the beginning downhill that will be difficult if the water level rises. Overall a great afternoon hike with plenty of shade cover!

The trail is mostly shaded following the river and returning back through a meadow. The area preserves several endagered plants such as the smooth purple cone flower and indigo. The trail is skinny and very well maintained. One section near the back end of the loop by the river is a little rocky woth a steep incline up towards the meadow section.

Until renamed, this is the ECWA Trail (Ellerbee Creek Watershed Association), a portion of the Ellerbee Creek Trail (all paved and goes much farther). This section is the 17-Acre Wood Preservation Area. There are two natural foot trails that branch off of the paved trail on each side of the bridge. Both sodes are well marks ans have a few forks in the trail that all lewd back to the paved trail. It is very well maintained and has some noce shade cover. You can start the trail feom EITHER END! There is no parking at the trailhead on the end it has you start at. You need to park around the corner at Indian Trail Park. However, the bridge is broken currently in the park that connects to the Ellerbee Creek Trail, so you’ll need to walk down the street a little. Its a non-busy, residential road woth plenty of shoulder. The other option is to park by Westover Park at the end of Maryland Drive.

This hike is a combo of different trails that run between the community center and the OWASA Access Trail, a trail connecting UNC to the NCBG (NC Botanical Gardens). Sections are very well maintained while others follow the natural landscape with many roots and rocks. Overall conditikns are great. The trail runs through dense forest with excellent shade and cooler temperatures making it a great summer hike for high temperature days.

This little trail in the forest around Rock Quarry Park is a small loop best suited mountain biking, but can also be hiked. It isn’t well marked and has a lot of branches for different biking trails. To do only the loop, stick to the right going clockwise. The park does have bathrooms, tennis courts, a large grass field, and a longer paved path that goes by the Museum of Life and Science.

Overall a great trail. They maintain the natural landscape very well, but that unfortunatly means a lot of rocks and roots on this particular trail. The distance and elevation gain is moderate and ot has some great views by the Eno River. This trail connects to the Bobbits Hole Trail where there is access to Piper Creek Campgrounds and Bobbit’s Hole swimming area.

Trail is closed until farther notice due to eeosion from the hurricaines last fall (2024). Closed as of 4/2025

Great hike for intermediate hikers who want to do the full two loops. Beginning hikers or those looking to swim can handle the easy in and out to either the quarry or the Eno River. The trail is well maintained and well marked. Although, it is rooty and rocky in several dpots, but easy to navigate of you are cautious. The tree cover provides great shade for a hot day and keeps it much cooler.

This is a nice, easy trail in the Ogden Nature Center (North) that is perfect for all ages and fitness levels. The quick loop has a slight elevation gain on the side nearest the mountain and is more open and flat in the wetland meadow area. There are a lot of wooden plank bridges over the runoff streams and marshy areas.

The Hollow Rock Nature Preserve is a very calm, quite place that is great for an easy weekend hike. The trails are smaller and can be a little soggy after rain. I would recommend waiting 3-4 days after rain to visit and to do the loop clockwise. There are several benches along the way that are great for bird watching.

Great trail that is well shaded and right along the Eno River. There plenty of connections to other trails like Laurel Bluffs and the Mountain to Sea trail sections. Plenty of parking and not crowded. Additionally, there are ruins of Old Durham to look at and explore!
