Awesome short hike for a great view of Cathedral Rock.

Guajome is a well used park by locals for trail running, walking, and biking. Kids enjoy the play areas and watching the ducks in the ponds. There is an affordable small campground for tents and RV’s. The trails are well mantained with beautiful plants and views in various locations.

Great spot for camping in the East Bay area. Very peaceful and moderate temperatyres in the winter. This might be one of our favorite spots to camp in the bay area.

Driving along the Icefields Parkway was a great experience. Every turn has another beautiful hike, lake or glacier to experience. Try downloading a GPS tour of the parkway from the GuideAlong app. We listened on our drive and learned so much.

Great hike. Totally worth the required bus ride from town to visit. No private cars allowed. You must go up Rock Pile hike to see the beauty of the blue lake. Make sure to come when the sun is out above the mountains and shining on the water. 10am or later is probably ideal and before late afternoon.

Hiked to Fairview Lookout where you get a better view of Lake Louise and the turquoise color. Its a steep climb, but having a 6 year old stranger behind you to encourage you along the way (“You can’t rest until you reach the top. No stopping!”) certainly helps.

Every summer in Revelstoke, you can expect 58 nights of live music in Grizzly Plaza from 6:30-9 pm. Arts Revelstoke invites artists from British Columbia, across Canada, and worldwide to play laid-back tunes from so many different genres of music including indie, folk, rock, country, reggae, roots & blues, and much more! The atmosphere in Grizzly Plaza is electric; dancing, patios, food trucks, popcorn, and gelato round out the experience creating a uniquely laid-back, friendly BC festival vibe. Great downtown are near the park with lots of choices for dinner.

Nice walk on the hiking/mountain bike trails in Martha Creek Provincial Park. Bring your tent, RV, or van and enjoy some peace on Lake Revelstoke. Trails are all rated as green. Water is available at shared spigots around the campground. Pit toilets, plus normal showers and flush toilets availabke at washroom houses in specific areas. Dump station in the park as well. Overall, a great park for the family.

Omg!!! One of the top two hikes of my life. How can it get better than this? This hike is in the Two Medicine area of Glacier NP. MUCH less crowded and dare I say even more beautiful. Parking was easy in our dually truck. We were greated by wildlife right from the start: mountain goats in the parking lot. On our way back we saw two moose not very far from the trail, both a cow and bull. Take a lunch and eat at either the suspension bridge or next to the waterfall. It is a must to cross the creek at the base of the waterfall and climb up to the top to see all the many different layering of waterfalls. About half way up is a great swimming hole which is not dangerous. The trail with the climb up to the waterfall and exploring it was 7.0 miles. Total elevation gain of the 7 miles is 604ft. I would classify this trail as easy to moderate, depending on your choice to explore up the waterfalls.

Fernie, BC is a solid ski, mountain biking, and fishing town with many lovely locals who enjoy being outside. The town hosts free concerts in the downtown outdoor arts station in the summer. Live music is available almost every night of the week at various venues. During the day in the summer, grab a tube or paddleboard and float the Elk River (up to class I rapids) through town from the North Fernie Put-In to Dogwood Park. Its THE THING TO DO. If you like fishing, try fishing for Westslope Cutthroat Trout who will rise for almost any dry fly presented. Mountain biking and hiking trails literally surround the city and move up into the mountains. On the southern side of Fernie in the Lower Canyon, you will find some of the best whitewater rafting in Canada with class III and IV rapids (contact Canyon Raft or Tunnel49 to book a trip). In the winter… the town turns into a skiing, snowboarding, and cross country mecca! Enjoy Fernie Alpine Resort with trails for all skill levels. It’s hard to compete with this place for outdoor activities. The very young to very old get out and enjoy the town. Fernie is literally surrounded by stunning mountains. The mountains are so prominent that you can’t help but to get a 365 degree view from anywhere. The town also offers cute restaurants, shopping and pubs.

Class I (and a few class II) rapids along this section of the Elk River. Caught a few Westslope Cutthroat Trout and enjoyed the scenery. Tubers and paddleboarders along the way, but not enough where fishing is slowed. The fish were rising at almost any dry fly I put on the water. Watch for downed trees in the river. There was one section where you will come across an area where the river flows right into a massive downed tree. There is a sign to warn you of the uocoming obstruction. It’s important to stay river right here and possibly portage your boat to the end of the section.

Rocky Point is on the southen side of Lake McDonald. Easy to reach without much traffic. Its a short walk to the lake and you can even gi for a swim if you like. The water is surprisingly comfortable in August. Watch for Bald Eagles.

A great trail, moderately crowded. Muchbof the trail is the same, through old growth trees. Once you get to the lake, its incredible. Make sure to walk along the lake to see different views of the water color and get closer to the waterfalls.

A magnificently beautiful river to raft. The rapids go up to class III and can be challenging for folks trying to kayak in the duckies. There are many rafting companies to choose from in the West Glacier area. Highly recommend this experience.

This is a 3 mile gondola ride over one mountain ridge to get to the top of Kellogg Mtn, which is where the ski runs begin for Silver Mountain. In the summertime, unless you are a mountain biker, I recommend saving your trip for Fridays when you will find food and live music at the top in the evening. There are several MTB trails that start at the top, but they are not for a beginner. Otherwise there is not much to do at the top in the summer and gondola ride itself can get very toasty in the summer heat. I’m sure the views are stunning in the winter with snow coverage.

Excellent location to float and fish on the North Fork of the Coeur D’Alene River. You can get shuttle service to this put in through Alberts Landing Campground if needed. Drive north on Coeur D’Alene River Rd and take a left just after mike marker 11 into the Steamboat Pond recreation area. Take the gravel road to the right when you pull in the parking lot to the pond. This gravel drive leads down to the boat ramp. Launch from here and pick up anywhere along the way or at Bumblebee Bridge where all the tubers put in for their float down to Albert’s Landing Campground.

Amazing boating in a pontoon with beautiful views of the mountains. Boat rentals are so reasonable at Koocanusa Reort & Marina. Never seen anything like it. $175 for the lower horsepower pontoon boat for 5 hours. Come on! You have to do this!!! There is a campground too. No cell service, but spots for RV’s and tents.

Beautiful swimming hole at Kootenai Falls. This swimming hole can be reached on the south side of the Kootenai river closer to the overflow parking area. The rocks are slick, so be careful. There are areas to sit in the water if you dont want to go for a swim. If you want to get in the deep pool, make sure you can swim. There are no park rangers in this area and swim is at your own risk. This swimming area has no chance of you falling into the waterfall or flowing into the main river which flows to the waterfall. It is safe to swim here as long as you are careful on the rocks.
