Passionate to experience the natural world and new adventures. Full-time RV’er with wife and two gooden retrievers in the USA.

Beautiful river and falls. Just steps away from parking.

This is an easy walk from the parking lot and around the water to the cabin. The water is clear and beautiful. Johnny’s cabin is quite impressive. His attention to detail was amazing. He built the two floor cabin, furniture, and light fixtures in the house. It is worth the trip to visit.

Easy access on the Middle Provo River. The Middle is wild brown trout territory. Fish in excess of 18’’ are caught every day during all 12 months of the year using a variety of fly techniques. The public areas of the Middle Provo get a lot of fishing pressure. Be in your best stealth mode. Take notice of which section allows only artificial flies vs. general fishing with bait. Dont forget your fishing license.

Great location for fishing. This is the northernmost part of the Middle Provo near Jordanelle Dam. The river is wider here than even just a few miles below. Rainbow and Brown Trout are normally caught here. I have the most success by building my leader with pupa flies on tags coming off the main tippet and putting my shot weights on the very bottom of the tippet.

High pressure fishing area. Its beautiful and easy to get into the river, but dont expect to catch a ton of fish. They are wise to us. I saw one guy catch one fish but no others. Worth coming out and walking as far away from the parking lot as possible.

Amazing hike that climbs up to see the Cassidy Arch. High winds in places, but nothing dangerous. This is a must see in Capitol Reef NP.

This is a beautiful hike right along Sulphur Creek. Make sure you wear water shoes. There are several places where you have to cross the creek and doing so in hiking shoes is impossible without getting them wet. We didnt make it all the way to the falls because of this issue. The creek is very soothing and of course the rock formations are breathtaking. Enjoy!

This is a lesser know trail near Capitol Reef National Park where you can bring your dogs and fish. Most locals call this the Fremont River Trail. Enjoy it as it goes out and back and for more miles than I was willing to hike carrying my fishing gear. The further you go, the more you might run into areas where brush has grown over the trail. You will very likely be the only person on the trail. Parking is right off of Hwy 12.

This is a great place to fly fish for rainbow and brown trout. This spot in on Trout Routes as a blue ribbon section. There are no trails here, but you can make your way through the foliage. Watch for rattlesnakes. Please catch and release so that the fish are there to procreate, get big, and stay there for another day of fishing. Dont forget to have a Utah fishing license.

The trail starts along a pretty river and then there is a climb, including steps. The views along the way are amazing. About halfway you will descend toward the wash and walk along it on the left side. The trail is marked with two foot vertical wooden posts. When you reach the loop go to the right for the best view of the arch as you approach.

Great loop hike from Sunset Point, taking the Navajo Loop trail clockwise to the Queen’s Garden trail and back up to Sunrise Point, where we took the rim trail back to Sunset Point. Elevation gain shown on my recording in not correct. It is really around 600 feet.

Amazing hike with incline all the way to the top. Beautiful pools along the way. This is a moderate trail where good footing is needed in several places. The trail is not marked and can be difficult to find. The key is to park in the dedicated lot, walk east on the street around the curve, cross the street to the north and drop into the gully. Hike in the gully or as close to it as you can until you come to the tall overhang/alcove which you can’t climb. Turn left and go up on the ridge. The trail continues along the ridge to the left of the big rock/mountain.

The Beehive Trail is in the Glen Canyon Recreation area near Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam. It offers breathtaking views of the geologic formations in the area. You can take a side trail which is .50 miles out and back for a stunning view and few people. The loop trail takes you to see Shiva-Nandi rock and the “The New Wave”, which is a smaller alternate to the “The Wave” at Vermillion Cliffs Natl Monumnet. 90% of the trail is well marked, but at times you will have to look for it. Cant get too far off track. Its a loop around huge rock formations. Parking is easy here. Bring your dogs only if it is cool enough. There is no shade and no water. Dogs will struggle on this hike even at 60degF. Watch for the tiny cactus so they don’t accidentally step on one.

Take a tour of Lake Powell by visiting the Glen Canyon Damn and Antelope Canyon by water. You can either hire a company or take your own boat. The views are beautiful from the water and nothing else can compare to visiting antelope canyon by boat. The walls narrow as you go further in and eventually you will come upon a sandy beach. A few lucky ones claim this spot and camp here overnight. You will see paddlers and other small boats in this narrow waterway. We were greeted by a few ducks which were eager to climb aboard for a visit.

Great scenic drive and not as scary as a lot of people state. The best part is from Silverton to Ouray.

This is a moderately strenuous trail through Embudo Box Canyon to Embudo Creek. Fly fishing for trout is of particular interst in this area. You will most likely not see a single person. There is an initial climb to a mesa, then a flat walk to a box canyon, which leads to boulder scramble down to the river. Its fun but requires a sure foot and not suitable to dogs. The views are amazing.
