My family tree can be traced through the Land Between the Lakes and the Shawnee National Forest regions of West Kentucky and Southern Illinois. I have been obsessed with traveling the Nation's National and State Parks my entire life.

Combine this with a trip to the other two close by monument while staying in Flagstaff.

A cool part of the park that has a significant architectural building perched at the rim. Can get crowded.

This was a pleasant surprise for my wife and I. Getting a piece of the Grand Canyon to ourselves in the busy season.

The colors are like that if another planet. A tip is bring lunch and have a picnic in near the entrance here. Then spend some time exploring some lesser known sites in this region of the park.

Everyone should see this eruption at least once while completing a trip to Yellowstone.

Beat the crowds and walk further away from Old Faithful to see other impressive geysers. Early morning or evening make for less crowds.

Fishing for Yellowstone Cutthroat in an amazing landscape. It is easy to forget that there is real life somewhere else. Stop by some guide shops in the gateway towns for tips to catch the hardy and elusive native trout here.

Like natures stair climber but with a unreal waterfall. Getting close to the base of Lower Falls is pretty surreal considering the terrain. Must do for those able to make the decent and climb on the stairs.

On certain days of the week you can bike this route without any vehicle traffic for several hours. It gives an unreal experience of being in and around a hundred + year old mountain town without the sounds of cars. Often Bears, Deer, Turkey, etc are right off the road as the threat of vehicles doesnt exist. It also will allow for some pretty incredible footage with limited crowds.

Just park your car, grab your gear and take off into this empty canvass for you to make a shot of the impressive dunes with the backdrop of the mountains. Sunset was when I visited and it gave color of purples and pinks against the sand. It was also really quiet which was a added plus.

After finding the trailhead, I was excited to see the flora and fauna before I reached the beach and watched the surfers and ocean for most of a morning.

This was a highlight of a recent trip to SD. Between the trees, the bluffs, and the ocean it made for an amazing day hiking the trails.

Take the ferry ride from the marina in Page to boat Lake Powell for a couple hours, then watch on deck as the 50 foot vessel works it way through a small canyon to the dock attached to the monument. The monument was a moving experience. The remoteness, beauty, and small crowds made it one of the best stops on my Utah road trip.

I did the Lower Antelope and was glad I did. The hike in then stairway down to the bottom of the canyon added a little mystery to what I was getting ready to experience. I have never seen colors and natural artwork the way I did in this slot canyon. Pictures and stories do not do it justice. Everyone should do these tours at least once in their life.

This unique feature is easy to access and worth a few to experience something that only happens in a few places on earth.

This is a awesome view and even better in the golden hour for photography.

As a pretty urban park you can expect large crowds and possibly shut down do to no parking.

The best way to see this waterfall is to park at the bridge and follow the ridge line to the falls. Beautiful river views on your way to the highlight.

A great place a half hour from lousiville to fly fish. It is stocked but similar to fishing in Tennessee.

Bring the whole family and enjoy this natural water park. Camping and other hiking is nearby. It’s a great place to cool off in the summer.

Spend an hour or a weekend climbing massive boulders and taking in the views of the ozarks.

The views from the lighthouse are awesome. The lighthouse itself is almost like a work of art.

A place at low tide where you can see the tide pools, but also hike along the bluff line through cracks and sea caves.

This park was a pleasant surprise and not too crowded compared to other parks in the region. Brilliant red rocks.
