My family tree can be traced through the Land Between the Lakes and the Shawnee National Forest regions of West Kentucky and Southern Illinois. I have been obsessed with traveling the Nation's National and State Parks my entire life.

This is not where montezuma lived. 😂 This is a beautiful park though and I enjoyed not only the ruins, but the path along the river.

This is an amazing place to catch a sunset. I had never seen the gliders before. Now I wanna do that too lol.

La Jolla Cove is a surreal place. With all the pinnipeds, sea caves, old school vibe from the local shops 9one could spends days or hours here. Take a kayak and explore the cove. You’ll be glad you did.

See the place where all the arches in Jackson were made from. The Elk Refuge is a great place for wildlife photography. Best time to view them here is late fall into winter.

A great view and a great break from hiking while in Grand Teton NP.

The shot most think of when dreaming of the Rockies.

If you can, hike it. If you have small children or elderly people with you. Take the ferry ride. I like the ferry just to take some photos of the views.

This campground is smaller, but I enjoyed it more because I felt the camp sites were a bit further away from each other than morraine park.

The best part of this when I was child was getting to throw a snow ball on my birthday July 31st.

A great rare glimpse of the old world in the parks. Make sure your vehicle isn’t loo long and sits high enough to make the switch backs and get over the potholes. This road is only open after the snow has melted along it. Some years it opens Memorial Day, some years it isn’t open after July Fourth.

Sprague Lake is the best place at sunrise and sunset to see the parks moose. Easy parking, and a flat trail make it ideal for photographers along the lake shore. Several bulls and mothers and babies frequent this area to eat at the beginning and end of the day.

A must do if on your first Rocky Mountain Np trip. This is not a massive waterfall, but it is beautiful and photogenic.

Reclusive cutthroat trout are plentiful in this lake. They are easily spooked so you have to have some stealth on approach.

Amazing fly fishing in a beautiful canyon! Wander for miles along the River. There is a great fly shop in Deckers that can help you with how to navigate the waters throughout this area.

I love driving scenic byways across America. This road is one of my top 5. The red rock buttes, distant mountains, desert wildlife, and weird roadside attractions make this a real life “cars” movie scene.

This section of the park is where I can almost always count on seeing a herd of Desert Bighorn Sheep.

This was the most challenging and rewarding day hike I have every undergone and conquered. The trek to scouts point was tough, but the mental fatigue to get through the chains was another animal. Not because of the 100 plus feet below me, but because of all the people in flip flops not giving me the breathing room needed to get from one section to the next. This will likely become a permit hike in the near future so do it while you can.

Few places on earth have better sunsets than Zion NP. The combo of red rock and the desert sun make my jaws drop everytime I see them.

The Grand Canyon is crowded. Like Disney world crowded. Hop on your bike and pick a spot along the miles of this trail to a spot and view to call your own.

When you look out over the river valley it is easy to forget you’re just a few miles from downtown Nashville.

This place is really nice. Plenty of space to stretch out and wonderful waterfalls in the park.

Driving over to Cherokee takes a while, and thus it is great to have somewhere to stretch and enjoy a beautiful waterfall once arriving near Cherokee.

Bryson City and the surrounding area of the park is just as if not more beautiful than other pets, but with a lot less crowds of those adjacent to gatlinburg.

GSMNP has so many Cascades and waterfalls, but this is my favorite. Mainly because of the “tiered” nature of these falls. You can splash or play in between them. But be careful, the rocks are slick. People have fallen here.
