My family tree can be traced through the Land Between the Lakes and the Shawnee National Forest regions of West Kentucky and Southern Illinois. I have been obsessed with traveling the Nation's National and State Parks my entire life.

There are several parking areas at different levels of the falls for all skill levels.

This state park is a great stop on a weekend road trip! Easy to view and accessible to most everyone.

Site of scenes from the live action Jungle Book from the 1990’s. It is amazing this place is not better known. My favorite waterfall in middle Tennessee.

This is a gem of Tennessee Parks, but careful if it rains or storms. People have gotten caught and died in this canyon. Not for small children.

When I went the stairs were still washed out to the base. Otherwise this is a fantastic hike regardless.

Come at sunset for incredible colors of Glen Canyon and the dam. Its a fairly easy trip to the overlook from the parking lot.

One of the highlights of the Shawnee National Forest. This trail is a must stop if you are in the area. Best time of year imo is during the fall and winter or after a rainstorm so seasonal waterfalls are in view.

Garden of the Gods was recently featured on the National Park series quarters. There is a good reason for it. It is possible the most scenic spot in Illinois.

This is a pretty area. When I went the visitor center was closed and it looked like the trail markers needed updating. Overall a nice area to kill time and exercise.

A great hike to kill time while waiting on a cave tour. Trail is well marked, some of it paved and it will lead to a spring that bubbles up from the cave itself.

If you get a permit from the Forest Service you can take a Jeep on Solider Pass Trail! Amazing.

Easy hike then moderate scramble to this great natural bridge with unbelievable views of Sedona’s Red Rocks.

An amazing drive from Phoenix to Ghost Towns, Canyon Lakes, and the Superstition Mountains. If you are in the Phoenix area, this is a must do one of your days on your trip.

Beautiful highway from the foothills to Estes Park! Every turn was a highlight.

This was a great quick hike on my road trip through the Rockies. Beautiful waterfall close to the city of Boulder.

I spent 2 sunsets and 1 sunrise chasing moose here. Just follow the path and look for the professional photographers who will congregate in the morning and evening to see and take pictures of the several resident Moose of the lake.

Listening to elk bugle each morning and evening was amazing. Being able to have a corner spot next to valley was a highlight, and I could walk down a quick trail to the river for excellent fly fishing.

What people think of when speaking of RMNP. One of the jewels, but very crowded. Make sure to get to the lot early or risk not having a spot. Often people will go up pre dawn and park, sleep, etc. then set out at dawn.

This trail and the lakes included on it are what people most often think of when they think of RMNP. Make sure to get to the parking lot at Bear Lake at dawn or risk not finding a space. Trail starts off easy and then becomes more moderate until you reach the end.
