Enjoying the company of conifers | Down to earth midwesterner that found her way west.
Easy little walk. Best after a rainstorm so the puddles are full and you can see the reflections. Best diamorpha in late March / April.

One of our favorite hikes in Georgia! Beautiful views of the canyon and rockface. A few spots have access to the small stream. We started around noon on a Saturday and the trail was very busy- that was the only negative!

Easy out and back trail to the dune. There are parallel paths that allow you to do a bit of a loop. You can also add on other sections of the pathway for a longee trip. The short section at the base of the dune to the top is steep- and particularly hard in winter.

Nice easy up and down trail. Big rock with beautiful views at the top. Our 13.5 year old Golden Retriever loved it and our 5 month old slept the whole way. Bathrooms available at the parking lot. Very full lot when we arrived at 10 am.

Nice paved section of the 22 mile Betsie River Trail. We had the baby and stroller- easy pathway to navigate. Lots of cyclists!

Easy parking off Deadstream Rd. If hiking clockwise, gentle uphill to start and very easy walk downhill the rest of the way. Beautiful view of Little Platte!

Well maintained trail with 2 loop options. Both give option to go out to Lake Michigan beach which requires about a half mile RT of dune hiking. Note that dogs are not allowed on the beach. Majority of the hike is in forest so nice shade but lots if mosquitoes!

Treat Farm is a favorite trail! Street parking at the trailhead. Path winds it’s way through the forest and opens up to an old farmhouse and barn. Continue past the barn through a gorgeous meadow to the Lake Michigan viewpoint and sanddunes.

Nice urban walking loop. Just over 2 miles around. Walk around the kids play fields and golf course. Makes for a great dog or kid walk- all paved so friendly for strollers. A few water fountains along the way.

Piedmont Park is a must-see in Atlanta. There are many different paths to explore. We entered from Monroe but there’s also a parking garage that offers easy access. Several bathrooms are available as well as drinking fountains. A mix of both paved and dirt paths so suitable for wheelchairs and strollers if needed. You can enter the Botanical Gardens from the park, as well.

Off-leash dog park and great kids play area. Nice little wooded area to walk with your dog off-leash. A few water features to keep your dog cool in the hot months as well!

We took the Manitou Island Transit over to the island for 4 nights. The boat drops you at the dock and we backpacked over to Weather Station campground. This campground has lots of good spots, shaded from the sun, with beautiful Lake Michigan views. The Lake Michigan beach near the campground is also perfect for evening walks. We did day hikes around the island- highlights included the old growth cedars and shipwreck, school house, and lighthouse.

This is an all-time favorite hike. It can get busy and parking sometime requires overflow on to the road. We have snowshoed in the winter season and hiked throughout the summer.

The botanical gardens is an Atlanta favorite! There is parking deck nearby which is free for 30 minutes and then $3 for up to an hour, adding $2 for each additional 30 monutr increment. I recommend going ewrly in the day or during a weekday fo avoid crowds. The light show during the holiday season is well worth it but often sells out and is very crowded!
