Well maintained boardwalk great for walkers and cyclists. Awesome birding opportunities. Easy flow overall with some nice gradual inclines and super fun descents. Highly recommend!

Reallg beautiful after a rain when the lichen and moss colors are poppin’! Great, easy accessible trail that is part of Alabama’s birding trails. Lovely view at the end. Love the option of walking the boardwalk (which has several entry points) or walking the wooded trail. Great for families, hidden gem at Cheaha.

This is a moderate to strenuous hike that is best for experiences hikers. There are multiple vistas along the way! Great spot atop Hernandez peak to have a snack and take in the view. The terrain is a bit rough and rocky - trekking poles recommended. Unfortunately the trail lacks in its markings - to follow this loop, you begin on the Pinhoti and follow the blue blazes, when you can find one. It requires quite a bit of rock scrambling and there is one section of the trail just beyond McDill point that is not marked at all. Recommend using gaia to find your way. Trail was poorly maintained in January with several downed trees and leaves covering the paths. There is a pretty cool plane wreckage just before McDill Mt for all you history buffs! Overall i’d recommend the trail if you want to challenge yourself and travel “the path less traveled,” but not a favorite. Also, this ended up being about 8.2 miles with about 1,320 ft of elevation.

Walk/Bike around the rock! Lots of hills, excellent strength building. Separate bike and walk lanes!

Park at Mavell Road Trailhead to begin at Mile 0.0 on the Silver Comet Trail! This paved multi-use trail is railroad grade which provides for a steady, gradual inclines and descends. The beginning of the route has a few road crossings at traffic lights. If you want to rent a bike, you can at Comet Cycles a few miles from the trailhead. Tends to be a bit busier on the weekends, but a beautiful scenic trailway at any time!

Sweet Auburn neighborhood is incredibly rich with history of Black Americans living in the South. Auburn Avenue was once known as the wealthiest street in the country for Blacks. It is now home to the sprawling MLK National Historical Site. Starting at JW Dobbs House and heading West gets you to all the highlights. I took a group of my work peers here in celebration of Juneteenth and everyone loved it! A great family/friend outing.

Newly finished west side section of the beltline connecting West End neighborhoods! Stop at Lee + White for good food and drinks. Some areas are remote - recommend traveling with a buddy.

The newest section of Peachtree Creek Greenway connects Briarwood and North Druid Hills with a super scenic, paved trail. The path borders Peachtree Creek the whole way with lots of opportunities for birdwatching, chillin’ by the creek, and moderate elevation to get your heart rate up. This section is about 2 miles long with various entry points along the way.

Beautiful preserve with a big outer loop and lots of opportunities to combine several different loops. Tons of opportunities for birding enthusiasts, native plant seekers, and wildlife viewers. There is a larger parking lot at the secondary entrance a bit further down the road.

Off the beaten path “Lost Blossom” bike tour!! Start on the Capital Crescent bike path until crossing state lines into Maryland. Then wander through beautiful neighborhoods to see a wide variety of cherry blossoms. The complete loop combines city and neighborhood streets for a hilly, moderate, and scenic loop.

Great workout, lovely pay off at the end. There is dispersed camping throughout so not always the best maintained, but still highly recommended! Fun hike to do with a group of friends

This is a favorite in North Georgia. The trail is pretty flat and only takes about 35 mins to get to the falls at a leisurely pace. It follows the creek so you hear running water the whole time. As you near the falls, the creek widens and eventually you cross over (bridge) for the final bit before hitting the falls. This place is very popular in the warmer months. Great spot to take a dip and good trail to bring your pets! Clarkesville is beautiful and there are other trails nearby if you want to make it a longer adventure. I suggest packing a lunch to enjoy on the rocks by the falls.

Such a fun trail! You will get wet - eventually, we ditched the hiking boots and switched to hiking sandals as yes, there are many creek crossings and some that are fairly deep! Be careful on the rocks, it can be slippery. Otherwise I’d reserve a full day to truly enjoy this hike.

No clear markings on this trail but pretty straightforward to navigate. The trail is wide, sandy, flat, and mostly uncovered (wear sunscreen!) There’s an entry point in a residential neighborhood - no dedicated parking. Lots of birding opportunities, especially near the marsh-like area. The sand makes it a good workout and I imagine you’d discover something new on each visit.

Paying a visit to Big Lagoon State Park is a must do!!! Views from the observation tower are gorgeous. We spotted a bald eagle, osprey, alligators, herons, killdeer, and many more wildlife species. Theres plenty of spots to park near all the different trailheads. Trails are a mix of boardwalk and sand. There’s a self-service kayak rental station if you wanna do a quick paddle. Such a gem. Lush forests, beautiful water, all the good stuff!
