This is one of my favorite National Park campgrounds. There are fun little trails behind most of the camp spots. Bathrooms are clean. Fills up fast. Don’t expect to find a spot without a reservation.

One of the coolest hikes I’ve done. Take every detour! Permits fill up FAST online, so set your alarms!! It is kind of difficult to navigate back to the parking lot at the end, but inside the furnace it is hard to get lost.

Steep but short hike up. Good area for climbing but can get extremely crowded on weekends with climbers. Parking lot was pretty full around 10:30 am on a nice Sunday in late February. Lots of sun on the trail, not a lot of shade.

Hard to reach in February after snow. Didn’t make it since the road is pretty rough and gets slippery/icy. Saw tire tracks continuing, but we had to turn around.

We climbed at the Sport Park. Easy access and not very crowded in February late afternoon. Parking is across the street and the trail crosses the stream. Trail gets icy in spots in winter. Love the views.

Permit is required to climb and can be obtained online for free. Good for a year. No climbing on the sandstone after rain or snow and no chalk allowed. We went in February after it snowed and could not climb because the routes were snowy and wet. The park is ok, not as beautiful as it’s neighbor Garden of the Gods. Less crowded though!

Very crowded on a nice Saturday in February. The parking lot was almost full when we arrived in the afternoon. We saw two sets of bighorn sheep. Biking is easy to make it to the end.

This hike is short but STEEP. The views are nice at the top, and there is plenty of space to spread out if crowded.

Lots of mountain bikers on this trail so beware. The view at the top is nice, but the hike is mildly steep all the way up. The hike starts across the street from the smaller parking lot of the two.

This is a pretty place, but the crowds can get annoying. The trail from the Upper Maxwell Falls parking is much shorter and usually less crowded. There are no garbage cans so pick up and pack out your dog poo. There is not much of a waterfall, so don’t expect much there. The trees and rock formations are pretty. Also- there is no trail to the base of the “waterfall.”

This is a nice hike near Conifer on the road to the South Platte River. I wouldn’t drive too far to do this hike, but worth it if you are in the area. Parts of the trail can get really icy in the winter, so I would avoid until mid Spring. The trail names can sometimes be hard to follow so be sure to check the map at the trailhead before starting.
