This is a very popular backpacking spot in the Holy Cross wilderness and can be packed in the summer, but it's worth it. The views are spectacular and the trail isn't too hard.

This was one of the most amazing backpacking destinations I've been too. I went in mid-September for fall colors, but unfortunately had over a foot of snow the 2nd day and the larches that had changed were covered. The grizzly bears were also very active and I had encounters every day except the last. The campground was nice with tent pads and a covered cook area. I also stayed in the huts after they kicked us out of the campground due to the snow and bear activity; they were small but really nice and warm.

This is one of the best spots in Iceland, and also one of the most popular for landscape photographers. I captured one of the best photographs of my life here in the winter with an incredible show of the northern lights above the peak: http://jasonjhatfield.com/nature/gz3s8luzgwd59swgeku2nd5q62rfnt

I photographed a stunning sunset here in December. I love how few people were there considering how close it is to a major city. Be prepared to run from waves near high tide.

Walking amongst these giants is like nothing else in the world. It's even more incredible in the winter when most of the crowds are gone and snow blankets the forest floor.

It's pretty awesome to walk through a dead sequoia. Lots of people have carved their initials into it, don't be one of them.

The beach is beautiful and feels very secluded. The facilities are old and run down but that's not why you're there, right?

The forest is out of this world, I could spend days just sitting in it. If you're going to photography it I recommend waiting for some good fog or overcast skies.

Close to town and beautiful reflections at sunrise. This is a great spot to catch a meteor shower too.

This was an incredible spot to photograph with mist coming up from the canyon and beams of light blasting through it.

This was an amazing trail for a run. The views of the ocean and beaches were incredible and not too many people.

The sea stacks here are incredible and massive. It can be pretty foggy but if not the sunsets are pretty stunning. Waders are a good call if you'll be taking photos.

If you're not afraid to get a little wet this is a beautiful falls to photograph. I like to get out on one of the big logs or rocks in the stream.

If you don't get here early in the morning it can be fairly busy. My favorite spot for photographing it is up high on the scree pile to the left if you're looking out from the falls.

This is one of the best trails in The Gorge. If you like somewhat narrow cliff trails with intermixed spots of forest, this is the place to go. One of the best runs of my life was on this trail on rainy, 40˚ morning in March, there was no-one else on it on the way out and with less vegetation you could see the falls better. I turned around at Tunnel Falls but there's plenty of more trail if you want it. I don't recommend stopping long in those temps though because you can get cold pretty quickly with just running layers on.

This is my 2nd favorite falls in the PNW, it's just incredible! Be careful if you scramble to the bottom, but it's completely worth it. Just please don't tear up the area like so many others. There's NF camping not to far away if you want to stay in the area.

Easy hike and a pretty big falls. It's not as unique as others in the area but it's definitely still worth photographing.

Not one of the most photogenic falls in The Gorge but still worth a stop to see.

One of the more unique falls in the area and a moderate hike with a great reward.

Stunning views, great waterfalls, challenging vert, and a nice escape from the crowds.

Early in the morning there's almost no-one here, and even fewer people when it's icy and cold out.

If you're feeling really adventurous bring a small inflatable raft when the water is high.

Easy hike with beautiful falls and it gets you away from the crowds near the road.
