Located in the historic hamlet of Belfountain Village, this park offers great views of the Niagara Escarpment. Take in this gorgeous conservation area that boasts a waterfall, fountain, cave and a suspension bridge. This family friendly conservation area is great for picnics, weddings, fly fishing, walking trails, fall colours and photography
Belfountain is great if you're looking for a short, scenic walk or a afternoon in the forest. Hikes can take anywhere from 30min-4hours to complete as it goes along the Niagara Escarpment. You don't need to walk far to start seeing some beautiful views, after you park your car (careful-there's limited spots), you'll be greeted with a beautiful pond, the suspension bridge, and the 'belle' fountain (get it?).In order to start your adventure, you have to cross the suspension bridge - don't worry, it's short and sturdy - and from there you'll choose one of two paths. On your left will be a bit of elevation to begin, but on your right you'll actually go down a few wooden stairs to find yourself walking alongside the pond. Both just as beautiful.
This place is suitable for your to bring your furry friend (please keep them on leashes) as well as for children, and the elderly. You are actually able to take some steps (very steep ones) down to the bottom of the waterfall that drops at the suspension bridge to take some killer photos. If you do decide to go down the steps, just know the waterfall is loud... like... really loud. There are bathrooms onsite that are kept relatively clean, and if you'd like to do a picnic of more than 20 people you are most certainly welcome to, just please call in advance. There's an admission fee per person of about $5 (a little more with taxes).
An obvious note, things can get pretty slippery just after a rainfall or during one. Just be careful if you decide to go off a trail/path and want to wander on your own.
