One of the best hikes Sedona has to offer. Towering red canyon walls are glimpses of fire shining through treetops and bouncing off the creek as it winds and cascades over and around striking rock formations. In the Fall Cottonwoods, Sycamores, and Ash create a vibrant display of color with a evergreen and red rock canyon backdrop, views that you will never forget. In winter icicles hang from canyon walls, in spring migrating song birds join the creek making magical melodies, and during the summer months lush ferns and herbs cover the canyon floor giving a tropical green feel. So this trail is worth revisiting!

West fork is an easy hike for all ages, the official root is 6 miles round trip but most people only go in 1 or 2 miles. Be prepared to cross the creek you feet will most likely get wet. Bring shoes that are water friendly and have grip or hike barefoot if you are into it, the trail is very easy on your feet. I would recommend walking sticks or trekking poles for people who don’t have very good balance.

Certain times of year this is a popular trail so come early or be prepared to park along the side of the road. Parking is $10 cash only. If you park on the road you will have to pay a $2 hiking fee. The hike begins in the parking lot head west or downstream on the paved trail. Continue across the bridge and fallow the trail right as it turns into the canyon. The trail is easy to fallow in the canyon you can hike as far as you like before turning back.
