A great spot to haul gear out to by bike and set up camp. Secluded, quiet, and filled with wildlife. It's not a well traveled area, so you will most likely not bump into other people unless it's hunting season. Even then, the terrain will keep out the majority of motor vehicles.

50+ miles of unpaved roads(out and back):We initially rode from Flagstaff down Woody Mountain Rd, and it was a bit more mud than we expected. The ride from Parks is a better alternative during the wetter seasons. Be sure to bring a map or GPS because there are many routes to LO Pocket. Some are better suited for dry weather.

We took Woody Mountain Rd to the 231231 to the 538538 to the 527527 to the 527B

The Alternative - 20+ miles of unpaved roads:Starting from Parks, AZ, you'll want to head south on Garland Prairie Rd until you reach Boyscout Camp Rd. Follow Boyscout Camp Rd until it turns into FS 527. Follow 527 until the SECOND turn off that says, 527B. There are more than a few 527Bs on this route.

You'll eventually end up on a small loop at these coordinates:35.096330, -111.947369

Parts of the road can become impassible for many bikes and motor vehicles after a rain or wet snow, so fat tires and a rigid bike frame will make life easier on you.

We chose to ride with hiking shoes as there were a few spots where hike-a-bike was required. Many parts of the trail were too sketchy for riding clipped in.

If you are going by motorized vehicle, 4x4 and high clearance is an absolute must. There are car-ending rocks and many, many muddy tracks that normal city cars will get stuck in. There are some instances of stair-stepping limestone and sandstone where you will hope your car is still intact.
