Description

Added by Daniel Martinez

This is an easy hike not far from the Elkhart trailhead offering spectacular views of the central Wind River Range.

Begin at the Elkhart Trailhead and head down the trail, about a 1/4-1/2 mile down will be a semi-maintained trail to the left at an angle (it is unmarked and angles forward semi-parallel to the Elkhart trail). Just follow this trail through woods, meadows, and hills for about 2 miles and you will come out on the cliff for Sacred Rim, with intense views of the Wind River Range over Long Lake. There is a large rock overhanging the cliff that is perfect for pictures. It can get very windy on the cliff overlooking Long Lake. There is also a user-made trail heading down the cliff below. It is a very easy hike, and can be done to-and-from in 3 hours or less.
