Hike Big Springs Hollow Loop
Arriving to Big Springs Hollow is relatively easy. Drive up Provo Canyon and turn right onto South Fork Rd at Vivian Park. As you pass Vivian Park, you'll continue for 3 miles on South Fork Rd until you reach Big Springs Park. Continue up to the Upper level parking and the trailhead will be in the SW corner. When we arrived early one Saturday, we found 4 or 5 tents scattered in camp sights ...
Floating the Provo River
There's no better way than spending a hot summer day floating down a river with your friends. The Provo River offers incredible views of Mount Timpanogos and other surrounding mountains in the Provo Canyon.
The easiest way to do this adventure is to visit High Country Adventure in the Provo Canyon. They will get you equipped with tubes and a life jacket for a small fee. It will also give you a...
Upper Falls
Coming from Provo, at about 2.5 miles make a right hand turn for Nunn's Park/ Bridal Veil. Go straight through the intersections and pass Bridal Veil Falls (on your right) and continue until you see a park on your right (Upper Falls Park). Park here and cross the bridge over the creek and then follow the trail that goes up behind the concrete structure. The trail branches off to the left but ju...
Bridal Veil Falls
Heading on Provo Canyon Rd the waterfall is just on the right hand side. You will see a sign that says "Bridal Veil" to turn in and park at the falls. At the falls you can hike up a bit to get closer to the waterfall but you will get sprayed quite a bit. Usually a few people there take photos at bottom. The falls also create a great spot to relax and hang out for a bit. It's never a bad idea to...
Ice Climbing Provo Canyon
There are a number of good ice climbing areas in the canyon. Everything from short easy water ice on up to the most difficult mixed route in the state are available. The area surrounding Bridal Veil Falls usually sees the most traffic. There are too many great routes to names here. For more in depth descriptions check out mountainproject.com and visit the local climbing shop Mountain Works in P...
Walk the Deer Creek Dam Trail
While driving East, the turnoff to the trailhead is just left of the dam. There is a size-able parking lot and rest rooms available. The hike itself is a dirt path and easy to follow. Access to the water's edge is restricted until you are 1500 feet past the dam. Though the trail is designed for biking, equestrian use and hiking, it is also a great location for trail running. It is also great fo...
