Located in Morgan-Monroe State Forest, the Low Gap Trail (white blazes) offers forest, creeks, ponds, and rock formations. The trail runs partially on old forest roads. A good spot for birding, with camping options as well.

From the historic Colvin Run Mill, head out of the parking area toward Difficult Run Trail. Follow this trail for roughly four miles as you hike along Difficult Run to the Potomac River.

This is a guided hike in Channel Islands National Park that provides a shuttle to the trailhead. If you are hiking this without a guide, add about 2-3 miles to your round trip. Check with park volunteer about their guided hikes when you get to Santa Rosa Island. During Snowy Plover nesting season closure you can only hike on the wet sand around skunk point, not above it in the dune.
