One of my favorite places on earth. I could honestly spend days just wandering around this zone shooting photos.

Font’s Point gives you sweeping views of the Borrego Badlands all the way out to the Salton Sea. The area is nicknamed California’s Grand Canyon. While it’s a beautiful spot to check out any time of day, the sunrises here are pure magic. As the sun breaks the horizon from beyond the Salton Sea it casts golden light and stark shadows across the badlands bringing their incredible textures to life. To get there you’ll want a 4x4 or AWD vehicle and some experience driving in sand. Otherwise you can hike in from SR22 (8 miles roundtrip) or book a guided tour with a local operator. Directions: Take SR 22 (Borrego Salton Seaway) to Fonts Point Wash. There is a small sign at the entrance to the wash but it’s easy to miss. From there its about 4 miles to the parking area. Once you park its roughly a 300ft walk to the actual viewpoint. But take your time and wander as there are lots of awesome spots besides the official viewpoint. Note: As with all of Anza Borrego State Park OHVs are not allowed and dogs are not allowed on trails (sadly they’ll have to wait in the parking area).

Awesome spot to catch sunset or photograph the stars. While you’re not allowed to camp at the temples, there are some BLM sites along the main dirt road before you turn off to the temples.

Nice quiet little campground kind of in the center of the park. It’s far enough back from the main road that you don’t hear any of the park traffic. Id recommend checking the campsite map before booking as some sites are bulked super close together and others are more spread out with a bit of privacy.
