So many boulders and so many problems to solve. Awesome spot to mingle with fellow climbers and has a wide range for all skill levels. Using the Mtn Project app is super helpful to find some good climbing and bouldering.

Stayed here for 3 days. First come, first served sites were super easy to get since its winter and the check in process is really simple. Theres parking, bathrooms, and a tons of boudlers in and around the campsite for some quick climbing. However I did notice quite a bit of trash around the campsite and did some quick clean up on my way out. Remeber to always leave it better that you found it. Stocked to get back later this year.

I always love a walk around Balboa Park. The flowers were still in bloom and on a Friday it wasn’t busy at all.

I love swimming at La Jolla Cove. Weather conditions were perfect today. I swam out from La Jolla Shores to the cove and back which was around 2,300yds. It’s pretty busy this time of year and there are always a lot of kayak tours happening around the area. There were a ton of fishes around I especially like to look out for the Garibaldi and leopard sharks. The cove is also home to lots of seals and sea lions - always be sure to keep at least 50ft away. Swimming near the caves can be dangerous depending on experience and tides, but it’s always beautiful. Parking at the Cove can be hard to snag a spot so I recommend trying to get there early.

Accidentally paused my tracking right as I got to the plateau, but this ~ 7 mile trail is a great loop for some rolling hill views and most importantly cows! It starts off flat through the valley and has a bit of an incline getting to the top for the loop. Parking on site that closes at sunset.

This was my first time at Crystal Cove State Park for a quick overnight for my birthday. We reserved a spot at Lower Moro Campground which is around a 6 mile hike out and back. The hike to the campground was all uphill, but the trail is very wide and we came around the time flowers were blooming. All the campsites are fairly close together but every site had a picnic table and there also was a pit toilet at the top. Be sure to pack in all your water. There is no water available as well as no fires allowed. The rattlesnakes were definitely out and about during our trip so just keep a look out - especially at night if you’re walking to the bathroom. Since the state park isnt far from the city, you will hear some road noise, but nothing that was a bother for us. The view from the top was beautiful. In the morning we were just above the marine layer and got an early start back down before it got too hot. Definitely will be coming back.

This is one of my favorite trails in Julian, especially right before sunset. The views at the top are unmatched and everything looks so pretty and green in the spring. Keep in mind you’ll have to park across the street at Paso Picacho Campground and pay the $10 day use parking fee.

This is a lovely walk through Balboa Park from the incredible architecture to the beautiful landscaping. Since it is winter, the rose garden had less blooms. We took a pit stop in Panama 66, one of our go to places, to have a drink in their sculpture garden. There is parking all around the park and really good museums to check out while you’re there too.

The Botanical building has been restored and reopened to the public Dec 2024. It is absolutely stunning and I was so happy to see the beautiful fig tree still there.

A fun urban walk to start the new year. We parked near Balboa Park - started near bathrooms and ended near bathrooms since there are really no public ones along the route. This was an easy stroll to really cool bridges (my favorite was the suspension bridge) and some cute neighborhoods. We did pause to pop into Lestats for some chai lattes and breakfast.

This is a great spot for a quick camp trip in the desert. It’s really easy to get to and gets bonus points for the pit toilet. Super nice to have metal rings for fires to stay cozy now that the weather is getting cooler. I got in early to snag a pretty good spot next to some rock formations. The sunsets are great but the stars at night are even better.

This is a go-to spot for me in La Jolla. I frequent the cove for some swimming and snorkeling, but the walk along the shore is great. It’s usually hard to get a parking spot along the water so parking in the residential area is your best bet. Along the cliffside there are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy watching the waves, surfers and kayaks. Once you get closer to the cove and childrens pool that is where you’ll find all the cute sea lions. Please be sure to remain 50 yards from the sea lions not only for your protection, but for theirs. After our walk we went to one of our favorite museums, The Museum of Contemporary Art right across the street.

I did a quick overnight section hike in Noble Canyon. There were some rain and snow flurries a few days prior so the air was a little crisp and chilly but smelled fantastic. This is a great trail for anyone looking for something more challenging. There were some ledge hugging switchbacks and steep slopes. There are also options to modify the distance or connect to different trails in the area. I didnt see many hikers but past by some friendly mountain bikes.

This is a great hike that is not too crowded and has beautiful rolling hills. If you’re going clockwise - the first mile is a steep uphill. There is a picnic table about half way once you reach the top. You’ll pass by many cows (they are so cute) and the hike is right down the street from Dudley’s Bakery which is an excellent place to stop for a treat after your hike.
