Arrive Khajuraho

If you are arriving by train the closest train station to Khajuraho is at Jhansi, over 150km away. We will organise for a private transfer from Jhansi. Alternatively you can fly directly into Khajuraho and a transfer from the airport will be organised.

Temple exploration

The exotic temples of Khajuraho, built between the tenth and twelfth centuries are considered to be the greatest architectural achievement of the Chandela dynasty. After years of abandonment, the temples were restored (and are continuing to be restored) to their former glory and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Of the original 80 temples that were once constructed just over 20 remain, scattered amongst the 20km square of parkland that makes up the sight. Today will be spent with a local guide exploring the temples.

Transfer from Khajuraho, trip concludes

After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to either the train station or airport for your onward connection.

Additional Information

The carvings that adorn the temples of Khajuraho are a manifestation of the Chandela dynasty's passion for forbidden art in the ancient land of Kama Sutra. They also home some of the most revered Gods of Hinduism so are a pilgrim place for worshippers from all over India.
