Chobe River

The adventure starts on Day 1 with a pre-departure meeting at 18h00. Our lodge is situated on the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe is famous for its beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and abundance of wildlife and birdlife. The following day is spent on an early morning Game drive in Chobe National Park and a sunset Game viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River. Overnight Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar).

Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) (approx 90 kms/3 hrs drive)

We cross into Zimbabwe and arrive midday to Victoria Falls - without doubt one of the greatest and most spectacular sights in Africa (entrance own account). The days are free to explore Victoria Falls, a natural wonder of the world and one of the most enthralling sights in Africa! You have time to browse the local markets and experience the many optional activities on offer in the adrenalin capital of Africa including helicopter flights over the Falls, sunset boat cruise etc. (own expense). Overnight Sprayview Hotel (or similar accommodation).

Hwange National Park (approx 190 kms/3 hrs drive)

Travelling through Zimbabwe we arrive by lunch to Hwange National Park. We enjoy a late afternoon open 4x4 vehicle game drive in the private concession bordering Hwange National Park. The following morning we enjoy another game drive in the concession and in the afternoon relax at the lodge or an optional game drive (own expense). Overnight Ivory Lodge (or similar)

Matopos National Park (approx 370 kms/5 hrs drive)

Continuing through Zimbabwe we travel to our lodge located on the edge of the World Heritage site - Matopos National Park. The following day is spent on a historic trek to Rhodes grave and walks to renowned caves and Bushman paintings. Our lodge is set within the large granite boulders of the Matopos. Overnight Camp Amalinda (or similar).

Limpopo Province (South Africa) (approx 600 kms/9 hrs drive)

An early departure takes us through Zimbabwe to the Beit Bridge border post. We travel to our lodge in the Limpopo Province where we experience a taste of the local Venda culture. Day 10 we depart after breakfast for a full day cultural tour which includes a visit to a local village, school, clinic and a traditional lunch. Dinner is enjoyed in Venda style in the local village. (Lunch on Day 10 is included.) Overnight Awelani Camp (or similar).

Timbavati Private Reserve - Greater Kruger National Park (approx 370 kms/8 hrs drive)

Departing after breakfast we enter the Kruger national park through the Pafuri gate. Traversing south we enjoy a full day of game viewing on our way to the famous Timbavati Private Game Reserve situated in the Greater Kruger National Park. Shindzela tented safari camp provides guests with a true safari experience in a private game reserve – an ideal way to make the most of your Kruger safari holiday. We enjoy an afternoon game drive and on Day 12 we enjoy a morning game drive and afternoon bush walk in search of the many animals inhabiting the reserve. (Lunch on Day 10 is included). Overnight Shindzela Tented Camp or similar.

Mpumalanga (Blyde River) (approx 170 kms/6 hrs drive)

Departing the reserve the day is spent viewing the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window viewpoint and Bourkes Luck Potholes. 2018 - Overnight at Hippo Hollow Country Estate or similar. 2019 - Overnight at Casterbridge Hollow or similar.

Pilgrims Rest to Johannesburg (approx 400 kms/6 hrs drive)

Departing after breakfast we proceed to Johannesburg, South Africa's biggest city and capital of its inland. Overnight at Peermont Metcourt or similar

In Johannesburg, trip concludes (This trip also runs in reverse)

The tour concludes today after breakfast. The hotel can arrange a complimentary transfer to the airport.

The pristine and varied wilderness areas of South Africa and Zimbabwe will leave a lasting impression, and are showcased respectively on this premium safari in the renowned Kruger National Park and Hwange National Park. Both parks are famous for their beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and prolific wildlife. Incredible safari game drives and game walks initiate our enthusiasm for wildlife whilst in search of the Big 5 in their natural environment. This diverse tour also offers wonderful insights into the culture, history and landscapes of South Africa and Zimbabwe from visits to local tribes and the Wild Dog Conservancy project, to viewing Bushman cave paintings and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon. Our journey culminates in Victoria Falls, of course spending time to witness the power of the Falls themselves - one of the most spectacular sights in Africa, and a fitting finale to our premium adventure.
