Itinerary
Days 1-3
Maun, Botswana / Moremi Game Reserve / Private Mobile Camp
Our private charter flight whisks us right to the stunning Moremi Game Reserve (avoiding an all-day drive). Here in the eastern Okavango Delta, we explore by 4WD vehicle and by boat, searching for game such as tsessebe and Burchell's zebra and tracking predators including wild dog and cheetah. Our remote mobile camp is comfortable and is ours alone—although don't be surprised if a grazing elephant passes through!
Days 4-5
Okavango Delta / Xugana Lodge
A river journey with great game viewing brings us to our next lodge, with its reed-and-thatch chalets set in the perfect spot for exploring the Okavango on foot, by motorboat, and by mokoro (dugout canoe navigated by a skilled poler). We should see bushbuck, a rainbow of birdlife, the shy sitatunga and semi-aquatic lechwe antelope, and perhaps even buffalo and elephant. Among the lily–filled waterways, we'll appreciate the calm solitude of this quintessential Delta setting.
Days 6-11
Chobe National Park / Private Mobile Camps / Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Our private charter flight across the Okavango Delta sets us down in Chobe, a legendary elephant refuge and one of the best places to find lion, leopard, and large herds of giraffe, kudu, and baboon. At night, Chobe comes to life with the "whooping" calls of wild dog and the rumbles of elephant. From our mobile camp in the Serondella area, with its photogenic baobab trees, we'll take a private cruise on the Chobe River to see big herds of tuskers ambling down to the river at sunset. Our safari ends at Victoria Falls, the mile-wide cascade of the Zambezi River, with an overnight at the stately Victoria Falls Hotel. Depart on Day 11.
