Explore One of the World's Largest Dark Sky Preserves

Jasper's Dark Sky invites astronomers at every level to gaze upon the wonder of one of the world's largest dark sky preserves.

This October, Jasper National Park invites explorers of all ages to our star-gazing playground with the annual Jasper Dark Sky Festival Presented by Rocky Mountaineer. Since 2011, Jasper has been home to one of the planet’s largest dark sky preserves, a designation given by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada to an area where almost no artificial light is visible at the night.

The festival features events ranging from presentations by space and astronomy experts, a symphony performance under the stars, photo workshops and lakeside aurora and stargazing.

With the coming of fall, the days grow shorter and crisper and it’s the ideal time to disconnect from your routine and engage with our universe and beyond. See you under the stars!
