Explore Cape May Point

So much to do in such a small area! For somewhere that's only about 2 square miles, the southernmost tip of New Jersey has a lot to offer.

Start your day at Cape May Point State Park. The main parking lot is right next to the Cape May Lighthouse, which visitors can climb and look onto the surrounding area from above. If you choose to have lunch in the picnic area next to the entrance to the park trails, be sure to bring trash bags as there are no trash receptacles in the park. Trails offer a few miles of boardwalk and dirt trails through woods and mire. There are a few birding platforms and plenty of chances to see the plant and wildlife that this beautiful park is home to. Trails lead out of the state park and into the South Cape May Meadows nature conservation. Be aware that during the spring and early summer months, parts of the trail are closed off to keep the nesting areas of endangered birds safe. That doesn't mean you can't access the meadows! Aside from a parking lot on Sunset Blvd, you can get there via several access points to the beach along the southernmost trails in the state park and the nature conservatory. 

The shore here is beautiful and you will often spot dolphins and other marine life along the water's edge. Lots of history in the area too! The US military made several facilities in Cape May Point during the World War II era. One of which is Battery 223, which sits on the beach mentioned above. Another is a watch tower right on Sunset Blvd.
End your day at sunset beach and catch a magnificent view of the...wait for it...sun setting over the Delaware bay!
