Hike up Sunrise Mountain and down into Tillman Ravine β Stokes State Forest has a satisfying range of trails to keep you busy during your stay.
The variety of hiking trails is a main attraction here, including a stretch of the Appalachian Trail that runs up Sunrise Mountain, and the opportunity to explore Tillman Ravine. For the same views at Sunrise Mountain without the uphill climb, the summit is also accessible by car.
The park has 51 tent and trailer sites, which come with fire rings and picnic tables. A certain number of sites are made available year-round. You can also choose from nine group campsites, nine lean-tos, and 10 cabins for your accommodations.
Be aware you are in bear country.

I hiked the Appalachian trail that runs through the park and it is fantastic. It is clearly marked and the views along the way are amazing. Plus there is an old fire tower at one of the stopping points. Just be prepared for some hills.
