This was a wonderful day hike! Great for families, challenging but fun to overcome. A great workout going up, and amazing views overlooking the beautiful New Hampshire fall foliage all around.
The White Cross Trail starts out as a dirt road for about a mile, with a gentle up hill. Then you get to the trail head, and things go uphill pretty fast. Lots of rocks, and about another mile up the terrain gets steeper and you have to do a little bit of DIY rock climbing! Very doable though. The summit is within eyesight pretty quickly, which gives you that extra inspiration to keep going. Allow 3-4 hours round trip! But be prepared for some cold winds at the summit, bring lots of layers!
