Climb Poon Hill
Ghode Pani, Nepal
Description
Added by Eric Bennett
Awesome Sidetrek Option for a Rest Day. Amazing Views of Fishtail and Annapurnas. Beautiful Sunrises Over Himalayas. Only 45 Minute Hike.
If you stay in Ghorepani, you can wake up in the morning and do this side trek before you head out on the Circuit. It is approximately 45 minutes to get up to the top, so you need to wake up and leave by roughly 4:30AM depending on the time of year to make it for sunrise.
Plenty of other trekkers will be doing the same, so you will have no trouble finding it. When you get to the Poon Hill Trail, there is a 50 Rupee fee per person to enter, so make sure you have some money on you. They also sell hot tea and coco at the top for 100-150 Rupees. Make sure you bring a jacket, because it gets really cold up there before sunrise, also some water because its a pretty tough climb.

Climb Poon Hill Reviews
When the author says it gets crowded, it gets CROWDED. Mid-March there were a couple hundred people on the summit for sunrise. Probably because lots of people visit Poon Hill as the crux of their trek by doing a shorter 4-5 day trip in and out of Nayapul. Even though most people will do this hike as one of their last days as part of the Annapurna Circuit, it's by far one of the most beautiful. Just goes to show they're not kidding when they say it'll keep getting better. Make sure you walk up to the top of the watch tower on the summit to get even more spectacular views!
