Crypt Lake hike is an incredible full day hike for adventure seekers. Four waterfalls, a tunnel through a mountain, steep ledges, and a cable led ascent around the mountain side keep the adrenaline pumping through your body.
After taking a fifteen minute ferry ride across the beautiful Upper Waterton Lake you reach the trail head. The first forty minutes of the hikes consists of switchbacks through the the forest; after clearing the treeline the trail increases in difficulty but offers incredible views of the canyon. During the summer, this portion of the trail is exposed to the sun and heat; therefore, ensure you have appropriate levels of water and gear. As you near the end of the trail you will be required to climb a steel ladder into a mountain side tunnel. As you exit the tunnel you will be greeted by stunning views of the entire mountain canyon. Next you will climb around the side of the mountain and a cable has been added for safety. It takes approximately 10 minutes to reach the lake from there.
