Description

Added by Alex Holmes

This gorgeous trail is short and sweet! A five miles hike brings you to stunning turquoise glacier fed lakes with insane mountain views.

From Big Pine (a couple hours south of Mammoth), a 10 mile drive down glacier lodge road will take you to the North Fork trailhead. Take a long day hike and venture up to Lakes 1 and 2, or turn your trip into a multi-day excursion on the loop passing by Lakes 1-7. While your out there, don't forget to take a short side trip to California's largest glacier.

Tips:-Visit in late autumn to avoid the crowds.- Check out a neat water carved cave near the damns between lakes 1 and 2.

Permits:Pick up permits at the Inyo National Forest visitor center in Lone Pine, or check out this website.http://www.recreation.gov/permits/Big_Pine_Creek_North_Fork_Jm23/r/entranceDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72203&entranceId=315402&permitTypeId=1009466832&entryType=1
