The Ice Age Trail at Storrs Lake in Milton, Wisconsin is a well-marked, moderately challenging hiking trail. Spanning approximately 2.01 miles, the trail offers a variety of terrain, from flat, easy sections to more rugged, hilly areas. The trail is known for its unique geological features, a result of the last Ice Age, including glacial erratics and kettles. Storrs Lake, a central feature of the trail, is a shallow, 67-acre body of water, ideal for birdwatching and spotting local wildlife. The trail also passes through a mixed hardwood forest, offering shade and a variety of tree species to observe. Hikers should come prepared with sturdy footwear, as some sections of the trail can be rocky. The trail is open year-round, but can be particularly beautiful in the fall when the leaves change color. There are no facilities on the trail, so hikers should bring water and any necessary supplies. The Ice Age Trail at Storrs Lake offers a unique opportunity to explore Wisconsin's glacial history while enjoying a satisfying hike. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the area, this trail is a worthwhile addition to your outdoor itinerary.

From the south end of the parking lot (away from the map display and towards the golf course) you’ll see the trail. The trai...

Relax at Bernie's Beach
There’s plenty to do here: relax on the beach, walk the neighborhood, soak in the views of the Madison skyline, bring a kayak or SUP to get on the water, or go for a swim.
Always be sure to check the blue-green algae levels before swimming in a Madison lake. That can be done here. Thankfully Madison invested in a system to help with this problem at Bernie’s Beach: “the system uses an impe...
