Sunken Road and Marye's Heights Loop Reviews

This is an easy historical path that is part of the Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania Battlefield NP. The first half is mostly flat and accessible. Then you have to climb a short slope that would be challenging for mobility impaired. The slope takes you to the confederacy’s positions during the bloody December 1862 battle and provides amazing overlook of the city. There is also a Union cemetery on the hill.leisurely 60-90 minutes to read the 7 park markers and contemplate history. Restrooms in the bookstore and visitor center (closed for renovations 2026)
