Hike 2 miles out-and-back through a large slot canyon

Drive to the end of the Scenic Drive in Capitol Reef National Park and continue onto Capitol Gorge Rd, a dirt road that winds through the largest section of Capitol Gorge. Park at the trailhead parking lot and begin your hike into the canyon. Markings on the canyon wall were written by settlers in the late 1800s. The flat 2 mile out-and-back trail winds through the canyon and offers many scrambling opportunities. Do not attempt this trail or continue onto the dirt road if rain is in the vicinity as this area is prone to dangerous flash flooding.
