Distance: ~7 miles roundtrip. Elevation gain: ~2,000 ft (generally not very steep). Fantastic day hike or over-nighter (if desired). Cache County and Bear River Range high-point (9,984 ft.). Spectacular views of the Bear River Range, beautiful Cache Valley, the Wasatch Range, and even out as far as the High Uintas.

Beginning at the astoundingly beautiful Tony's Grove Lake in Logan Canyon and ending at the summit of Naomi Peak, the highest point in Cache County and the Bear River Range, the Naomi Peak Trail does not disappoint in scenery, wildlife, or vistas.

The trail winds through fields of wildflowers and spectacular rock formations. If desired (and if time permits), there are great spots for bouldering and climbing just off the trail in several locations. Though the trail is well-defined, divergence is encouraged. The hike itself serves as good exercise, but is not so strenuous as to prevent you from enjoying the scenery around you.

As higher altitudes are achieved, you are able to get impressive views of the surrounding Bear River Range, Cache Valley, and even the High Uintas off in the distance. Further, Mt. Gog, Mt. Magog, and White Pine Lake are all very close, allowing for even more diversity in a day's activities.

At Naomi's summit, because of its stature as the monarch of the Bear River Range, the view in every direction is stunning. If desired, a late evening hike will allow for incredible star-gazing from this point, as well as picturesque sunrises and sunsets.

Because of this, as well as the proximity of other spectacular climbs/hikes/landmarks, two days are recommended for this hike. Although the summit can easily be achieved in a single day, this area has so much more to offer.

If attempting this hike in the winter, snowshoes are highly encouraged.

Getting there: From Logan, take US Hwy. 89 for 19.2 miles to Tony Grove Road, then follow this for 7 miles to Tony Grove Lake. There is a small parking fee to park at the Tony's Grove campground, but it is also possible to simply park further down the road. One avoids the fee by tacking on distance.
