Beautiful, relaxing, and fulfilling. Cecret Lake is an any time of the day hike for all ages. Don't miss out on this gem of Utah.

Cecret Lake is located up Little Cottonwood Canyon near Sandy, Utah.  The drive itself up the canyon is breathtaking.  You'll pass big ski resorts like Snowbird and Alta.  The road is paved and during the most of the drive.  Once you reach Alta, the road becomes dirt for the last 2.5 miles to Albion Basin Campground.  There is parking at the campground however if there are no spots available there is another parking lot about 1/4 of a mile before the campground.  This is a very popular place for families so there will be plenty of people up there, even more if you go on a weekend.  Bathrooms are also accesible near the parking lot.

The trailhead is right next to the entrance gate to the campground.  It is clearly marked and more than likely there will be people walking it bothways.  The first .4 miles of the hike is through the Albion basin which, if you are there at the right season, is full of wildflowers of all colors.  Wildlife is extremely abundant here; birds, insects, squirrels, chipmunks, and hummingbirds are very common to see.  The path crosses of a couple streams, but nothing to difficult for young children to get around.  At about .6 miles the path opens up to a rocky set of switchbacks right before the lake.  After getting up to the top of the switchbacks you will walk right up to the edge of the lake.  It is a breathtaking scene.  There is room to explore all around the lake.  Watch for fearless squirrels and chipmunks as they will try to get in your bags if you're not looking!
