Photographing/Hiking Angel's Landing

Springdale, Utah

Description

Added by Austin Clark

This hike is one of the most famous hikes in Zion National Park. With amazing views, wildlife, and an overall beautiful scenic feeling, this exhilarating is a must-do.

This adventure starts by taking the shuttle to The Grotto Trailhead, markers will then point you in the direction of the trail. This hike has 1500 ft of overall elevation gain with steep points along the hike. The first two miles are all on a paved trail with numerous switchbacks, and is fairly steep. After the first mile, you'll pass the bare face of the canyon, and will enter a shaded area which is quite refreshing. When reaching the final half mile, there is a lookout point where many people stop and turn back, or wait for their companions who go the half mile. This final stretch, which leads to the highpoint which is known as Angel's Landing, is an intimidating path along the side of the ridge. It has chains anchored in just about the whole way there, but can still be difficult for all ranges of people. The views you are rewarded with are worth every step of the hike.
