5 Wildflower Hikes in Utah You Need to Do This Weekend

If you didn’t already know, folks in Utah are pretty passionate about their wildflowers. There are no fewer than four (FOUR!) Utah-centric apps specifically dedicated to identifying the little four-petaled lavender flower that sprung up by your tent overnight. (Check the apps out here, here, here, and here.) These apps are great for identifying flowers of all kinds and can even help you pronounce the wildflowers’ names, which is pretty handy considering some of them sound like the latest edition of Pokemon creatures: Zauschneria? Monkshood? Viscosissimum? Gotta catch them all!

And speaking of catching them all, this may be a good time to mention that it’s actually illegal to pick wildflowers on public land in Utah, so think before making that adorable delphinium chain.

You’re going to want to stop what you’re doing and download those apps right now, then make your plans to join the ranks of floral fanatics this weekend because it is primetime for wildflowers in Utah. Whether you’re going to tackle the mighty Timp or go for a leisurely stroll through Albion Basin to Cecret Lake, you won’t be disappointed in Utah’s wildflower display.
