Currently, very muddy and snow at the tail end of it. We were hiking with hiking shoes and we were fine :)

This is by far one of the most beautiful lakes I've seen, especially this time of year. No snow is left on the trail, but the snow on the mountains make it amazing. It may seem like a long hike, but it's not very difficult.
