One of our favorite beaches for sunset in Carmel! Even though there are alot of visitors, it didnt feel crowded. If you walk to this beach from Carmel downtown, note that its a steep walk down which means you’ll need to walk back up. If you drive, there is a decent size parking lot and lots of street parking.

A great place for a summer outing! Our kids love this spot for picking and eating their fair share of strawberries. You also get beautiful views of the ocean and coastline. We also never leave without grabbing a strawberry shortcake from the farm store. Check the website for when the u-pick season starts.

A great local spot if you’re looking for a short walk or have little ones. This place is popular for creek play and theres a secret swing about a 10 min walk in. After your walk, there’s a fun playground for the kids at the entrance to the trail. Parking is along the road and in the residential neighborhoods.

This is a local’s hidden gem and the perfect place to paddle for beginners because the water is usually calm due to the protection of the surrounding jetties. Conditions are best in the earlier mornings. Parking is at the West Shoreline Access and a 5 min walk to the beach area where we like to launch. Its also a great beach area for kids and dogs! And there trails for walking and exploring.

We love taking this trail with our little ones and stopping by Fern Grotto Beach to explore the caves and spot some seals. The trail is mostly flat and easy but make sure to keep the kiddos away from the cliff’s edge. To get to Fern Grotto Beach, you’ll see a small sign and some steep stairs heading down to the beach area.
