This is a sacred stretch of the coast, and a locals’ beach. Respect tbe highway traffic; speed limit is 55, its not a tourism parking lot, its not a olace to slow down and halfway pull off the road, & it is NOT A CROSSWALK. A woman waa killed here this year, crossing the highway when a local driver had the right of way. Locals have palpable rage toward tourists along rhe coast—its our daily commute, and we see the most selfish, dangerous, selfie-obsessed outrageously StUpId behavior, up and down the hwy, EVERYDAY. Pull the heck over in a turnout if there is a driver who is stuck behind you and wants to frive faster than you do.

My local favorite

DO NOT JUMP OFF OF THE HIGH HILLSIDE ROCKS. AS A LOCAL GIRL, I HAVE KNOWN SEVERAL VISITORS, YOUNG, NAIVE, WHO HAVE ALL DIED THERE, FOLLOWING THE HERD OF THRILL SEEKERS. This is a suicidal, completely LIFE THREATENING jump. DONT FUCKING DO IT.

Biohazardous BEAUTY. Prime beach, EXCEPT FOR: Broken GLASS, literally crushed up, & littered like it was once the local dump—bigger shards w/ sharp pointed edges barely visible as you make your day camp with your barefoot kids! Yikes! It is strewn for MILES along the entire length of the beach, which is baffling to me, since it is such an incredible place to walk (WITH A PITBULL & PEPPER SPRAY)! The homeless have claimed this beach as their own, so climbing around the dunes feels sketchy-tucked around every shrub & mound (epic location to be, no doubt!), & i found several needles, and bloody garbage, fresh sleeping bags & pillows, liquor bottles, feces, & that strong feeling fhat “we are not alone here”—NOT a place I will bring my toddler again, unless we were abke to cruise the shoreline on an electric beach moped. Dead birds, foamy dirty stagnant water, rotting seaweed, a hotel development plan, & a recent explosion of literal *shit* from the treatment plant upstream… all of the conditions that make this beach a 👎 for relaxing!
