Beware: the trail mentioned in this hike is still closed after the 2020 Walbridge fire that damaged much of the Austin Creek area. Also the campground mentioned, Bull Frog, is still not open. Trail crews have been working hard to take down hazardous burned trees in order to reopen Austin Creek, and some of it is now open to the public, but not the Gilliam Creek trail this hike recommends.
