The start of this trail (the first mile or so) is a horse trail so know before you go that there will be many bugs! If you are an avid hiker, I would say this is more of a nature walk for lack of a better word. It isn’t too difficult and there is lots of woods and florals to look at on your way to the waterfall. There is also a lot of wildlife! We saw a bear cub (picture zoomed in and taken a safe distance away) so go prepared to look around.

Definitely one of the busier trails in the Great Smoky Mountains, but still a fun one to check off. Even though we were frequently near other people, it’s still a peaceful spot to hear the water rush by amd take in all of the views.

This is probably one of the most fun hikes I have done so far! Frozen Head State Park is a geological masterpiece and there is always so much to discover. I wouldn’t say it’s the most strenuous hike, but you are constantly climbing up and around all sorts of rock which was so fun. After doing some research on Honey Creek, we decided to complete the trail counterclockwise. It isn’t the best marked trail, but going backwards helped in navigating it. If you lose sight of the trail and whoch way to go you shoukd be able to look around and find a trail marker, painted arrows, or bright strings nearby! Because we went counterclockwise, went up the steep and rocky inclines instead of going down them, which was definitely my preference. We logged this trail at almost 6 miles. Completed in about 5 hours, took a few breaks and explored a lot! I wouldn’t personally recommend taking small kids or dogs on this hike as there’s a lot of rock and boulders to maneuver at different points. We only passed one person during the hike and that was in the last mile of our trip. If you’re out near Frozen Head, this hike is a must!

Melton Hill has so many options! There’s a put in and boat ramp, a dock for fishing, olayground for young kids, walking loop through the fields and a trail through some parts of the woods. Always an amazing spot to watch the sunset ☀️

Quick walk and a beautiful pay off. Perfect for seeing the stars or a quick little get away from the city. 360° views of the mountains and it’s always a breathtaking sight.

Not too difficult and a great waterfall at the end! Perfect place to take a dip at the end! There is some rocky terrain and it gets narrow at times so watch your step, but it isnt bad. Also be careful not to miss the parking lot, it’s a little out of the way of most things

A nice loop and pretty scenery! There’s a dog park if you have any furry friends and a disc golf course too! Lots of fun ways to spend a sunny day here

One of my favorite trails! The arches are breathtaking and it’s well worth the short trip to see

A bit steap at times but fun bouldering towards the end

Easy hike with great waterfall views! Perfect for a swim and exploring. Also a kayak put in nearby where you can make it to the lowest falls

Such a fun hike, you definitely get more than you were expecting at the top! It gets busier as the day goes by, so try to get out early if you can! It’s also a great hike for dogs so be ready to run into some furry friends :)
