Arrive Johannesburg

You will be collected from the Johannesburg International Airport on arrival and transferred to your hotel located nearby. The driver will be waiting outside the arrivals area with your name on a name board, please look out for your name. After check in at the hotel, the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

We will meet our guide this morning and depart Johannesburg at 07:00hrs, and drive eastwards via Witbank and Middelburg to Nelspruit, and enter the Kruger National Park in the southern end of the park during the late afternoon. Our encounters with the wildlife starts here! Before sunset we arrive at our camp. Listen to the sounds of the African night, perhaps we can hear hyena or lion calls, and an orchestra of crickets and other nocturnal species will fill the night. Overnight at the rest camp in Kruger Park.

Game drives in Kruger National Park

Today is completely devoted to viewing Africa's wildlife as we search for the 'Big 5’ as well as other animals. An early departure is always recommended as the game viewing is optimal in the absence of the midday heat. As we drive along we hope to see several varieties of mammals, birds and reptiles. Not knowing what will meet us around the next corner adds to the attraction of visiting Kruger Park. Your guide will give information about the species seen, and answer any questions you may have. Following a relaxing lunch stop, the game drive continues. Your guide will consult with you and other fellow travellers as to length and duration of the afternoon drive. We reach our camp at or before sunset. You also have the opportunity to take an optional night-drive in an open safari vehicle utilising high powered spotlights to find nocturnal animals (own expense - must be pre-booked). Dinner and overnight at the rest camp in Kruger Park.

Morning safari, Panorama Route sightseeing

After a final early morning game drive we drive to the Panorama Route and visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes. Enjoy a walking tour of this area, where you can see extraordinary geological formations, formed by the confluence of two rivers. Our route continues to the Blyde River Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world, and see the majestic "Three Rondavels" and the impressive canyon formed by the erosion of the river. Stops will also be made at God's Window and the Pinnacle Rock. We enjoy this spectacular scenery before we travel to Sabie for dinner and overnight.

Panorama Route sightseeing, return to Johannesburg

This morning we stop at Lone Creek Falls, before proceeding to the town of Pilgrim's Rest. Take a walk through the main street and get carried away to the last nineteenth century when this little village was bustling with activity during the gold rush, before we make our way back to Johannesburg - where we arrive in the late afternoon. Trip concludes on arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. No flight departure before 20:00. Alternatively, additional nights in Johannesburg can be arranged if required (extra cost applies).

Additional Information

Experience an authentic South African safari. As we search for "The Big 5" (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino) in Kruger National Park we will also discover an abundance of other wildlife. Our fantastically located safari camp is the perfect base for exploration. On our way back to Johannesburg from Kruger National Park we will travel to the Panorama Route and visit Bourke's Luck Potholes and God's Window. We will continue to Blyde River Canyon and see the "Three Rondavels" rock formations as well as the spectacular canyon, before the return journey to Johannesburg. The combination of bird and animal life as well as picturesque landscapes makes this a lovely excursion for those short on time. Note - It is possible to extend this trip to 5 days /4 nights - Additional supplement payable. Private safari lodge & flights option are also available; ask us for details.
