This beautiful hike is moderate, pet friendly, and ends with an extremely rewarding view of a stunning waterfall. Located close to Greeneville, Tennessee, it's accessible year round.
Margarette Falls is deemed a moderate hike that is 2.7 miles upwards in elevation - roughly 882 feet. It's asked that if you bring your furry companion that you keep them on a leash. The path to hike is very clear and not easy to lose track of. You'll start off at level with the parking lot and move upwards from there. A river will be on your left and a lot of vegetation to your right at until you come across a little creek to cross! At that point the creek is shallow, yet decently wide to cross. Later on, you will come across a small obstacle of rather moderate rocks to climb over as the trail escalates upward. Once you get to this point, you're almost there! You'll end your hike at Margarette Falls, where the temperature will drop noticeably - it's very refreshing on a hot, summer day! The trail does not loop around; therefor you would turn around and hike downwards to the parking lot.
For fellow photographers, don't forget your tripod! This waterfall is worth the capture.
Also, it has been mentioned that black bears have been spotted in the area before and to be cautious when hiking the trail as well.
