This is definitely an "enjoy the journey" hike. The path is gorgeous in Fall and the scenery of the canyon is breathtaking. The trail had hardly anyone on it and there are great camping spots just odd the trail. The "destination" is underwhelming and I hiked right past it, still a well worth it hike.

This is a great trail for beginner trail runners like myself. The trail is super busy anytime after 10. The sections of uphill, downhill, and flat are even spaced throughout the hike both ways. I walked the sharp uphill and jogged the flat and downhill parts. I rested behind other hikers a few times and it turned into a great interval workout. Fun trail to run with rocks and roots to navigate.

I hiked out here and camped about 3 weeks ago. The hike and lake were very pretty and offered many different types of terrain and foliage. The lake was about 2/3 frozen still, and the trail had a few snow patches. It is very worth it to spend the night up there, but bring bug spray! No mosquitoes in late June, but definitely other pesky insects. The trail gets a little hard to follow near the top but by then you'll have a good idea of where the lake is. Loved this hike and it has a good distance/payoff ratio!
