Description

Added by Jessica Dufour

This is an amazing hike that is an hour south of San Francisco located near Half Moon Bay. This hike is about 7.5 mile loop. You'll see a running creek, walls of redwoods, tons of banana slugs (watch your step), waterfalls, bridges, and a beautiful view of the ocean.

There is minimal parking near the entrance of the hike so I recommend getting there before 10am. Parking is free and is on a first come first serve basis. The entrance to the hike near the intersection of Purisima Creek Road and Higgins Canyon Road. There is also a clean outdoor restroom at the beginning of the hike. There are also maps of the trails at the entrance near the restroom.

To do the loop, take the Purisima Creek Trail, continue onto Craig Britton Trail and then take a right onto Harkins Ridge Trail, then take a left on North Ridge Trail, and continue onto Whittemore Gulch Trail. And then you will end up back at the beginning of the hike. Doing this direction will allow you to do most of the elevation climbing in the shade and then you can enjoy the view of the ocean from the ridge, which is in the sun.
